There
are 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the Microsoft Access
runtime engines available. It is important that the bitness of your
database match the bitness of the Access runtime engine. If you have
created your database with the 32 bit version of Access, you
must also download and install the 32 bit version of the runtime
engine.
You can see in the filename of the Access Runtime installation
file which bitness it is compiled to. If it is a 64 bit runtime
engine, the filename contains the text "x64". If it is a 32 bit
runtime engine, the filename contains either the text "x86" or
no CPU information at all.
We have listed below current filenames, bitnesses and download
links for some common installations of Access Runtime. If your
Access version is not in the list, you can search for it via a
search engine.

The bitness of your Visual Installer project file should also
match the bitness of your database and the Access Runtime
installation file. You can read more in
this tip about how to change bitness for a Visual Installer
project. We will also explain this further in the main tip page
(see section 4 in the tip page).
